Driver Distance by Age

How Far Are Amateurs Really Hitting Their Driver?

This is one of the most common questions I get. The table below breaks down driver distances based on age.

• To be included, players needed at least 200 shots (with driver) in a calendar year.

• The distances shown are total distance (not carry) and represent each player's median distance.

• These are male amateurs.

Here's how to read the table:

• Age groups are listed down the left side.

• Percentiles are across the top.

  • 10th percentile: 10% of players hit shorter than this distance, while 90% hit farther.

  • 90th percentile: 90% of players hit shorter than this distance, with only 10% hitting farther.
